He Got the Job (and then He Didn’t)

Joshua got hired at the popcorn shop, we couldn’t believe it! He was so happy when the guy called this afternoon. But when he and I went to the interview tonight, the guy and his wife talked about paying Joshua as a contractor instead of an employee, which I found odd. And when I brought up how they would need to complete the GA Dept. of Labor’s work permit process (which I’ve already started), they said they’d do it after the business name change was complete in three to four weeks. 😕 In the meantime, they’d pay him in cash, no taxes. ☹️

Stephen and I are not comfortable with that at all. Child labor laws are a big deal! So are taxes!! We had to tell him no. Joshua’s so disappointed. He almost had his first job.
